ALVIN BARBER TAKES OWN LIFE ON SINGLEY RANCH WELL KNOWN HUMBOLDT RANCHER COMMITS SUICIDE OWING TO ILL HEALTH (Times Special Service)
FORTUNA. Jan. 23 Alvin Barber, aged about 65 was found dead in the barn on his ranch near the old Singley Station, this morning having committed suicide by first slashing his throat with a knife and then hanging himself. He had been in ill health for some time. Deceased had been a resident of this section for many years. His wife preceded him in death about ten years. Seven children are left to mourn their father. They are Clara of Arcata; Lulu, who resides in Oregon; Belle, Effie, and Ada Barber and Mrs. Pearl Rasmussen, all at home, and Bert Barber of Arcata. The inquest over the body was held by Coroner H A Hansen at Loleta this evening. Funeral arrangements will be made later.
