George L. Kroll died of leukemia at St. John's Pleasant Valley Hospital on December 23, 2011.

He is the son of Joseph C. and Harriet (Schultz) Kroll of Chicago, Illinois, and was a 1934 graduate of Carl Schurz H.S., and he attended Wright Junior College, Chicago, and Northwestern University at Evanston, Illinois.

He was first married to Mary Margaret Strode of Chicago on May 30, 1941 and she died. He then married Alda Cliffe of Chicago on November 39, 1974 and she later died.

He is survived by two daughters: Nancy (Richard) Binder of Camarillo, California and Diane M. Kroll of Galesburg, Illinois; stepchildren: Bruce (Cathy) Cliffe of Aurora, Colorado, John (Kay) Cliffe of Waukesha, Wisconsin, and Diane (Robert) Hunter of McHenry, Illinois; five grandchildren; and twelve great-grandchildren.

He served his country honorably with the U.S. Army during World War II.

Awards: American Campaign Medal, European Campaign Medal with two Battle Stars, Army Good Conduct Medal, WW2 Victory Medal.
