Only child of Christian & Helena Kornhammer. Native of Nevada City, born in a house which was on the corner of Washington and Coyote Streets, across from St. Canice Catholic Church.
Married George H. Calanan at St. Canice Catholic Church, Nevada City, Nevada County, CA on December 20, 1899. Following the wedding, the newlywed couple walked across the street to make their home in the house in which she had been born.
Nevada City's Calanan Park was named in honor of her husband George H. Calanan.

The building at the foot of Sacramento Street, now known as the Stonehouse once housed a brewery owned by Simon C. Hieronimus, Sr.
