YORK - Cora Edith Hundley Allen, 94, of Lackey, died Sunday, Sept. 27.
She retired from York County Schools as a teacher. Mrs. Allen was a graduate of Virginia State College and received her master's degree from Hampton Institute.
A York County native, she was a member of Household of Ruth Lodge and Rising Sun Baptist Church and its deaconess board.
Survived by a daughter, Shirley A. Johnson of Mitchellville, Md.; two sons, James A. Allen Jr. of Lackey and John P. Allen of Columbia, Md.; a sister, Eliza H. Dixon of New York City; five grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.
Viewing from noon to 8 p.m. Friday at Franklin Funeral Home. Funeral at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at Rising Sun Baptist Church, Lackey, by the Rev. James Tabb. Body placed in church by 12:30 p.m. Burial in the church cemetery.
