Bishop Rites At Monrovia Church
Funeral services for Mrs. Anna Bishop, 89, who made her home since the death of her husband in 1919 with her daughter, Mrs. Jessie Hawkins, 413 South Seventh, will be held at the Monrovia Methodist church at 1:30 p. m. tomorrow, the Rev. Robert Thornburg officiating. The body will lie in state at the church from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. Until then it will be at the Stanton mortuary.
Pallbearers will be Jack Turner, Gene Reichart, Karl Kuckleman, John Butner, Francis Donovan and Bill Taliaferro.
Mrs. Bishop became ill while spending the weekend at the home of her daughter, Mrs. John Turner of Monrovia, where she passed away yesterday afternoon. She had been in good health until recently.
She was born at Batso, N.J., Nov. 1867, a daughter of George and Elizabeth Donovan, and at the age of 16 came to Kansas with her parents, the family settling near Highland. In 1896 she was married to Willis Bishop and they spent their entire married life at Monrovia.
Besides her daughters she is survived by two brothers, Jim Donovan, Horton, and Andy Donovan, Monrovia; eight grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. Preceding her in death were a daughter. Mrs. Dorothy Bell, who died in 1951, and a sister, Mrs. Elizabeth Custer, several years ago.
