Joan Marie Anderson, 72, Chetek, Wis., died Tuesday, July 31, 2007, at Luther Midelfort Northland, Barron.
She was born Sept. 13, 1934, at Barron, the daughter of Helmer and Marie (Jensen) Paulson. She grew up in Barron and graduated from Barron High School.
On Sept. 20, 1952, she married Melvin Anderson at First Lutheran Church, Barron. They moved to South St. Paul, Minn., and lived there over 30 years. Joan and Melvin moved from South St. Paul to the Chetek area in 1992.
Joan loved any and all kinds of sports, from football to track, and even swimming. She especially liked the Twins and Vikings. She also enjoyed painting.
Surviving are her mother of Barron; her husband; sons, Steve of Seattle, Wash., and Barry of Oak Creek; daughters, Laurie Stinson of Carpentersville, Ill., and Sharon (Richard) Zigler of Tacoma, Wash.; six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; brothers, Larry Paulson of St. Paul, Minn., and Donald Paulson of Cameron; sisters, Shirley Peet of Barron and Margaret Tietz of Dallas; as well as nieces, nephews and cousins.
Her father and brothers, Richard and Bill Paulson, preceded her in death.
Services were held at 11 a.m. Friday, Aug. 3, from First Lutheran Church, Barron, Rev. Bruce Beyer officiating, with burial at Northern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery, near Spooner.
Visitation was held 4-8 p.m. Thursday from Rausch and Steel Funeral Home, Barron, and an hour prior to the services at the church Friday. [Obtained online 10 Aug 2007 from The News Shield, Barron, WI.]
