HOUSTON - Marvin Eugene Barkley, 85, died Friday, June 17, 2011, at Trace Regional Hospital in Houston. He was born April 2, 1926, in Blue Springs to Lee Allen Barkley and Mary Ellen Malone Barkley. He was a truck driver and member of Arbor Grove Baptist Church.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Monday, June 20 at Memorial Funeral Home Chapel in Houston with Bro. Randy Hays officiating. Burial will be in Arbor Grove Baptist Church Cemetery. Memorial Funeral Home of Houston is in charge of arrangements.

He is survived by his wife, Dorothy May Andrews Barkley; one daughter, Carol Shearon of Southaven; four sons, Travis Barkley Sr. (Janice) of Pell City, Ala., Travis Barkley Jr. (Shannon) of Houston, Wayne Barkley (Susan) of Hot Springs, Ark. and Steve Barkley of Mt. Carmel, Ill.; one brother, Clarence Mitchell Barkley of Hughes, Ark.; two sisters, Margret Pollan and Dolly Mae Barkley, both of Grenada; 15 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers; two sisters; one son-in-law, Don Shearon; and one daughter-in-law, Denise Barkley.

Pallbearers will be his grandsons.

Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday at the funeral home in Houston.
