Barbara A. Linville, 74, of Sycamore, IL and Fort Worth/Dido, Texas passed from this world on Monday, April 23, 2012 at Texas Health Harris Hospital in Fort Worth. She was born February 17, 1938 in Rochelle, IL to Edwin and Gladys (Busse) Colby. Her family lived in Lee until they moved to DeKalb where she met some of her life long friends. She attended DeKalb High School. She met the love of her life, John E. Linville, while they each were on dates with other people. They were married in Crown Point, Indiana. They spent their lives as Sycamore residents and became snowbirds when John retired from the Sycamore (IL) Fire Department. A daughter came from this union. She was a member of the Sycamore United Methodist Church (IL) and attended Dido United Methodist Church and Lighthouse Fellowship Church both in Fort Worth. Barbara spent her life making their house a welcome home for so many. She was a kind and gentle soul, yet was independent and fiercely loyal to those close to her. She was known for her Swedish egg coffee which she learned to make from John's grandmother. There was always someone stopping by to say hello and share a cup. Although she only briefly worked outside the home, she could fix just about any small appliance or piece of jewelry. She spent 12 years traveling with Marlyn's Majorettes to which her daughter was a member. She had many interests including country and western music, the rodeo, and auto racing. She loved traveling, going to the casinos and being near the lake. For many years, they spent spare time in Delavan, WI. During the time they lived in Fort Worth near their daughter's family, they easily became part of their Eagle Mountain Lake community. She is survived by her daughter Vickie (Mike) Palmer of Fort Worth; three grandchildren, Lindsey (Corey) Farra of Roanoke, TX, Lauren Palmer (fiancÚ Capt. Dave Bryant) of San Antonio, TX , and Matt Palmer of Fort Worth, a sister-in-law, Josephine Fisher of Chicago, three nephews, Walt Fisher, Wayne (Patti) Fisher, Wes (Fran) Fisher and a niece Charlene (Mike) Gustafson, all of Chicago, many other family and friends, and her furry four-legged companion, Rufus. She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother, Charles Fisher, and her loving husband John (2003). The funeral service will be at 11 a.m., Saturday, April 28, 2012 at Olson Funeral & Cremation Ltd., Quiram Sycamore Funeral Chapel, 1245 Somonauk St., Sycamore, IL 60178 with Rev. C. William Landis officiating. Burial will be at Elmwood Cemetery following. A visitation will be held from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Friday at the funeral chapel. A celebration of life will be held at a later date in Fort Worth. A memorial fund has been established. She will be deeply missed by her loved ones and the many people whose life she touched.
