She was baptized on 07 Feb 1907 at the Immaculate Conception of the Blessed Virgin (St. Mary's) Catholic Church in Millhousen, Indiana. She entered the convent in 1931 and had supervised the laundry, served as purchaser, and directed the culinary department. Her sibling was also a Dominican Sister of St. Cecilia Congregation, Sister Margaret Mary Hessler.
