Dorothy June Hood-Nemecek, 64, of Norman died Tuesday, June 20, 2006. She was born June 5, 1942 to Emery and Mamie (White) Hood in the Little Axe area. She lived in Little Axe, Oklahoma City and Norman areas. She attended Pawnee Boarding School. She went to the University of Oklahoma. Mrs. Nemecek worked for IHS for over 20 years. One of her favorite past times was playing softball. She is survived by her husband, Ronald R. Nemecek; sister Nova Dean Avery of Shiprock, NM; brothers, Foster Hood of Shawnee and Gilbert Hood of Norman; two stepsons Greg of Norman and Jason of Bethany; Aunt Pauline Wahpepah of Norman; sisters-in-law, Rachel Hood of Marysville, WA and Eloise Hood of Shawnee; several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by parents, Emery and Mamie (White) Hood; her son Cliff Ray Strickin; sisters, Darlena Lasenberry and Ardena Brinson; brothers, Robert 'Jake' Hood, Elmer Hood, Alonzo Hood and Albert Hood; nephews Randy Brinson, Albert J. Hood, Jr., nieces, Shawn Henson and Arlena Hood. She will have tribal rites Thursday evening at Little Axe. And burial will be 9:00 AM Friday at the Absentee Shawnee Tribal Cemetery in Little Axe.

From a F A G contributor: There is a typo in this listing, 'Foster Hood' was Pauline Wahpepah's brother, making him Dorothy's uncle rather than brother.
From another F A G contributor: I don't know who told you that Edger Foster Hood was not her brother...because he is and he is also Pauline's brother and yes Pauline is her Aunt. Foster and Dorothy had the same father, but not the same mothers. Pauline and Foster had the same mother, but not the same fathers. Dorothy's mother was Mamie and her half sister was Pauline....so Pauline is Dorothy's Aunt.
