Mitchell Thomas Barbour, 55, of 95 Helms-Dogwood Road, Benson, died Tuesday, April 28, 2009, at Wake Medical Center in Raleigh.

He was born Sept. 30, 1953, in Johnston County to Mary Louise Turner Barbour of Benson and the late Vonzo Richardson Barbour. He was a member of Friendly Chapel Church and Hannah Creek Sunday School. Mr. Barbour was in the U.S. Army in the 82nd Airborne Division. He was a carpenter in the home construction business and was a farmer.

Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Friday at Friendly Chapel Church in Angier by the Revs. R.B. Parrish and Mike Courtney. Burial will follow at Fellowship Community Cemetery.

Survivors, in addition to his mother, include a son, Eric Barbour and wife Judith of Benson; a daughter, Trinity Barbour of New York; grandson, Kenneth Jordan Barbour of Benson; a brother, Donald Barbour of Benson; and sisters, Linda McLamb of Benson, Shirley Lee of Four Oaks and Janet Townsend of Willow Spring.

The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 8 at Rose & Graham Funeral Home and other times at the home of Jewell Holmes, 1003 Johnson St., Benson.
