(VALLEY) Nellie Faye Brooks, 69, of Valley, formerly of Wedowee, died Friday, Feb. 6, 1998, at George H. Lanier Hospital in Valley after an extended illness.

Funeral services were Sunday, Feb. 8, at 2 p.m. at Pine Grove Baptist Church, Heflin, with the Rev. Birsey Brooks Jr. officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery.

A Cleburne County native, she was born Nov. 28, 1928, daughter of Nick and Cora McCulley. She was a homemaker and a member of Pine Grove Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Birsey D. Brooks Sr.

Survivors include four daughters, Rena Whaley, Janet Padgett and Melba Hall of Valley and Linda Baxter of Newnan, Ga.; six sons, Birsey Brooks Jr. of Greenville, Gregory Brooks of Wedowee, Tony Brooks of Roanoke and Ralph Brooks, John Brooks and Doyle Brooks of Valley; two sisters, Arena Campbell of Coldwater and Nettie Smith of Anniston; two brothers, Ralph McCulley of Oxford and Earl McCulley of Anniston; 26 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren.

Grandsons served as pallbearers.

Benefield Funeral Home of Wedowee was in charge of arrangements.
