"Bud" Fanning, 61, of 2303 Liberty, Janesville, died Wednesday in Mercy Hospital after suffering an apparent heart attack.
Born March 6, 1924, in Milton, he married Betty Steinke on Sept. 20, 1947. He married Arlene Bartz on June 25, 1983, in Janesville. A lifelong resident of the Milton-Janesville area, Fanning was employed 16 years by the Chrysler Corp., Belvidere, Ill. Prior to that, he farmed in the Milton area and was employed by several trucking companies. He was a World War II Army veteran, serving as a paratrooper. He was a member of St. John Vianney Catholic Church, UAW No. 1268 and VFW. He also drove for "Apostolate to the Handicapped."
Surviving are his wife; three sons, Joseph of Appleton, Michael of Florida and Patrick of Janesville; a daughter, Luanne Totten of Black River Falls; a stepson, Dale Bartz of Madison; seven grandchildren; two brothers, Paul of Janesville and Charles of Delafield; and three sisters, Agnes Hanauska and Kathleen Drew, both of Milton, and Sis Drew of Janesville.
Services will be at 9:30 a.m. Saturday in St. John Vianney Catholic Church, with burial in St. Mary Cemetery, Milton.
