MOBERLY, Mo. - John Patrick "Pat" Arnett, 60, of Moberly, Mo., passed away Monday, July 2, 2012, at Harry Truman Veterans Affairs Hospital in Columbia, Mo., surrounded by his loving family.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Friday, July 6, 2012, at Pathway Memorial Funeral Home in Moberly, with interment to follow at the Missouri Veteran's Cemetery in Jacksonville.

Pat is survived by his wife, Gail; daughters, Kristi (and Billy) Bennett, Lisa (and Joe) Gruenloh, Mary Beth Reardon and Jennifer P. Arnett; his two grandchildren, Asiah and Chase Bennett; his brother, Shawn (and Doretta) Arnett and sister, Ginny (and Paul) Arnett Caro.

He was preceded in death by his parents, John P. Arnett and Maranna Murphy Arnett.

Pat was born Sept. 22, 1951, in Grand Island to John and Maranna Murphy Arnett. Pat was the oldest of three children from that union, along with Shawn and Ginny. He graduated from Central Catholic High School in 1969. He enlisted in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War, serving four years in Fort Lewis, Wash., working for the Judge Advocacy General (JAG). Pat spent his career working for the Burlington Northern and Norfolk Southern railroads.

He married Gail (Alley) on May 1, 1982. They have four loving daughters, Kristi Bennett, Lisa Gruenloh, Mary Beth Reardon and Jennifer P. Arnett. Pat enjoyed a very special bond with his two grandchildren, Asiah and Chase Bennett.

Pat was a "baseball-loving fishing addict." His favorite team was the St. Louis Cardinals, and he loved playing Pinochle with his family. Shawn and Pat were the Pinochle champions at the last Farrell/Murphy family reunion held in St. Louis in 2010.

Pat's wit, humor, kindness and compassion touched all those that had the pleasure of meeting him. He will always be remembered for his love and dedication to his family, especially his children and grandchildren. Blue, his Quaker parrot who was his constant companion, will surely miss their conversations.

Pathway Memorial has been entrusted with the arrangements.
