"Age 44 years"; Johnson Ketcher, Cherokee rolls, "born 1866"(?)[Cemetery isolated; not maintained.] He was a full-blooded Cherokee Indian. His father was Tah-ne-yun-ta, a Trail of Tears survivor, and his mother was Sa-la-ta. He married Sarah Jane Holloway, who is pictured here. She was of mixed Sephardic Jewish, Cherokee and Choctaw ancestry. The couple had eight children: Celia, Alice, Susie, Lee, Nancy, Isaac, Cora and Walter. Johnson Ketcher served as a US Deputy Marshall and was one of the first full-blooded Cherokees to do so.
