Death of a Pioneer
Long Valley has just lost one of its oldest settlers in the death of C. M. Bovard. Mr. Bovard was a Canadian by birth, 75 years of age and until two days before his death was enjoying good health.
He was a pioneer, arriving in California in '50, but was not one of the lucky ones and did not leave much property behind him. However, he left more friends and relatives to mourn his loss than he might have done had he died a millionaire. Wealth insures neither love, friendship nor happiness and Mr. Bovard was rich in all these. He was an honest man, loving husband and a strong friend.
Mrs. Bovard feels her husband's loss deeply and the most practical way of showing respect for the dead is to comfort the living.
