Former longtime Seminole resident Bonnie Rae McClure-Harjo died Tuesday, Jan. 1, 2008, at home in Oklahoma City at the age of 56.She was born Nov. 4, 1951, in Talhina, Okla., to Richard Harjo and Elizabeth (Deer) Harjo. She attended Strothers School. Bonnie attended Snake Creek Indian Baptist Church in Little, Okla., before moving to Oklahoma City.
She moved from Seminole to Oklahoma City in 1964 and married her former husband, Saulton McClure of Oklahoma City. Bonnie was a homemaker.
She was a member of the Marantha Baptist Church of Western Oaks in Bethany, Okla.
Preceding her in death were her mother, Elizabeth Harjo; three nephews, Christian Lusty, Joseph Harjo, Kutcha Harjo; and one niece, Kimberly Clark.
Survivors include her father, Richard Harjo of Oklahoma City; three sons and daughter-in-law, Adrian and Melissa McClure of Oklahoma City, Jesse McClure of Oklahoma City, and Israel McClure of Oklahoma City; one daughter, Eleanor Garcia of Oklahoma City; five brothers, Charles Deer of Sherman, Texas, Bill Tiger of Norman, Sandy Harjo of Seminole, Richard Harjo Jr. of Oklahoma City, and Bobby Harjo of Shiprock, N.M.; five sisters, Elizabeth Berkley of Shawnee, Linda Gonzales of Oklahoma City, Birdie Martinez of Oklahoma City, Grace Trevizo of Oklahoma City and Brenda Harjo of Oklahoma City; two grandchildren, Reese Garcia and Juan Garcia and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.
Wake service will be 6:30 p.m. today at Swearingen Funeral Chapel.
Service will be 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 5, at Swearingen Funeral Chapel with Ernest Best and Charley O'Daniel officiating. Burial will be at Snake Creek Cemetery.
Casket bearers will be David Harjo, Jimmy Harjo, Jeremy Harjo and Anthony Hawkins.
