RESEARCHERS, do not get this William Newton Bonds confused with a Newton Bonds, born about 1831-32, who lived with his wife, Nancy, and son, Dallas age 14, in Cabarrus Co NC according to 1870 census. This family had moved to West Virginia by the 1880 Census and there is no record of them ever returning to live in NC. The two Newtons were definitely related but they were not brothers or father & son. They were probably cousins or uncle & nephew. As soon as I determine how they were related I will update this Memorial with that information.
