Seth Thomas was the sixth child of Job and Margery Curtis, along with his brother, Aris Boneparte Curtis, he enlisted in the Confederate Army on September 15, 1862 at Camp Brown near Sharpsburg, Bath County, Kentucky. Leonard Mulliken who enlisted at the same time and place and was in the same unit said that Seth died of wounds, however, the family always claimed he died of disease. He, also, was in Co. "F", 9th Regiment Kentucky Volunteer Cavalry.
