Henrietta C. Adessa, 73, of Lopatcong, N.J., passed away on Sunday, June 19, 2011, at Morristown Medical Center.

Mrs. Adessa was born on Nov. 20, 1937, in Newark, N.J. She was the daughter of the late Constantine "Gus" DiSessa and the late Raquel (Fiore) DiSessa. Mrs. Adessa graduated from Barringer High School in Newark, N.J., in 1955. She received her teaching degree from Kean College in 1959. She later received her master's degree in education from Montclair State College. Mrs. Adessa started teaching elementary school for the Bloomfield school district and later she taught at the Dickerson School in Chester Township, N.J., for many years. She married her husband, Frank A. Adessa, in 1960 and moved to Chester Township in 1969. Her husband, the late Frank A. Adessa, went on to become the mayor of Chester Township from 1979 to 1988. Mrs. Adessa was a Morris County Republican committeewoman for many years. She was a founding member, past president and charter member of the Chester Lioness Club; a member of the Chester Bicentennial Club, and was on the Board of "CASH" - Chester Area Senior Housing. She was an original founder of the West Morris Central Music Parent Association and was a member of the PTA in both Newark and Chester Township. Mrs. Adessa enjoyed entertaining and her times at the casino. Most importantly she was a loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother who enjoyed going to her grandchildren's sporting events and recitals.

She is survived by three daughters, Lauren Adessa Mogavero of Florham Park, N.J., Marea Adessa of Mount Olive, N.J., and Jacquelyn Klimas of Franklin Township, N.J.; her brother, Frank DiSessa of Morris Plains, N.J., and sister, Phyllis Sanfilippo of Hazlet, N.J, and her six grandchildren, Gina, Philip and Raquel Mogavero, and Jared, Evan and Alyssa Klimas. Her husband, Frank A. Adessa, passed away in 2004.
