Funeral services for Robert Lee Hill, 81, of Vinemont will be at 2 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 6, 2011, at Battleground Baptist Church, Bro. Donald Abbott officiating, with burial in Friendship Cemetery. He will lie in state from 1 to 2 p.m. at the church.
Moss-Service Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Hill passed away Thursday, Nov. 3, at Summerford Nursing and Rehab Center. He was born Jan. 30, 1930, in Lawrence County to David Jackson Hill and Minnie Ruth Moore Hill. Robert was a member of East Battleground Baptist Church, a farmer and a heavy equipment operator for many in the area before his retirement from Apel Manufacturing.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and nine siblings.
Survivors include his wife of 58-and-a-half years, Sarah Turner Hill; two daughters, Karen (Bobby) Tapscott and Tina (Jeff) Boren; a son, Robert "Bob" (Vikki) Hill Jr.; a sister, Wilma Hill Royer; seven grandchildren, Robert Lee "Robby" (Mandy) Hill III, Amy Tapscott (Brandon) Harvel, Matthew (Brandi) Tapscott, Kaylee (Matthew) Speegle, Seth Boren, Leslie Boren and Kasen Boren; and five great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Jerry Osborne, David Powell, Robert Hill III, Matthew Tapscott, Matthew Speegle and Brandon Harvell.
Honorary pallbearers will be Gary Wix, Kenneth Holmes, W.L. Barnett, John Moore, Ray McCravey and Buddy Osborne.
Visitation was from 5:30 to 9 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
