James (Eddie) Barnett
Mr. James (Eddie) Barnett, age 70 of Cedar Bluff, Virginia, passed away Friday, December 17, 2004 in a Bristol, Tennessee hospital following a brief illness. Born July 3, 1934 in Tazewell County, Virginia he was the son Jannie Altizer Barnett of Bandy, Virginia and the late James Daniel Barnett. He was a retired coal miner for Island Creek Coal Corporation VP #3 Mine and a member of UMWA. He was a member of El Bethel House of God Church at Baptist Valley. Eddie was also a member of the Black Diamond Coon Hunting Association.
In addition to his mother he is survived by his wife, Billie Jean Milam Barnett; two sons, Eddie (Junior) Barnett & wife Tammy of Bean Station, TN, Gary Franklin Barnett & wife Amanda of Cedar Bluff; four daughters, Jannie Ann Nicewander & husband Jerry, Roseanna Helton & husband Tim & Connie Conley & husband Steve all of Cedar Bluff, Sparkle Whitley & husband Don of Dover, DE; six brothers, Sammy Barnett & wife Connie of Baptist Valley, Bliss Barnett & wife Ella Jean of Wytheville, Russell Barnett & wife Sue & Woodrow Barnett & wife Lynn both of Baptist Valley, Jerry Barnett & wife Wanda & Rocky Barnett & wife Joyce both of Bandy; four sisters, Ella Cole & husband Roy of Bandy, Ester Beavers & husband Walter of Baptist Valley, Cynthia Wright & husband Wayne & Sparkle Bonds & husband James both of Bandy; 13 grandchildren, Timothy James Brown, Angie Renne Brown, Jacob Lee Brown, James Edward Barnett (Little Eddie), Anthony Helton, Brandon Barnett, Klyle Whitley, Brittany Whitley, Mikhaela Whitley, Joshua Whitley, Cassidy Whitley, Melanie Barnett & Chelsea Barnett; one great grandchild, Mallory Grace Helton; several uncles, aunts, nieces & nephews also survive.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, December 22, 2004 at Singleton Funeral Service Chapel in Cedar Bluff, Virginia with Rev. Jerry Nicewander officiating. Burial will follow in the Barnett Cemetery at Whitaker Ridge, Virginia. Family & friends will serve as pallbearers.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 9 P.M. Tuesday at Singleton Funeral Service in Cedar Bluff, Virginia.
