VIOLA C. ACKERMAN, 96, died at 10:45 p.m. Jan. 2, 2004, at Mennonite Memorial Home, Bluffton.

She was born March 12, 1906, in Racine, Wis., to Ole and Anna Marie Peterson Krogh, who preceded her in death. On Oct. 20, 1934, she married Gould Mark Ackerman, who died May 10, 1965.

Mrs. Ackerman was a homemaker. She was a member of Emmanuel United Church of Christ and the Bluffton Senior Citizens and its Golden Swingers Band.

Survivors include a son, Larry (Sue) Ackerman of Bluffton; three daughters, Diane (Jean) Muller of Bluffton, Sharon (Edward) Niswander of Findlay, and Judy (Gary) DeVier of Lima; a brother, Herbert (Dorothy) Krogh of Norwalk; and seven grandchildren, two stepgrandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, and six stepgreat-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by an infant daughter; two brothers, Peter and Thorbal Krogh; and a sister, Olga Tortorice.

Services will begin at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Chiles & Sons-Laman Funeral Homes, Bluffton Chapel. The Revs. John Mummert and William Herr will officiate. Burial will be in Lafayette Cemetery.

Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made in lieu of flowers to Emmanuel United Church of Christ or the Bluffton Senior Citizens.
