Civil War: Company F, 3rd California Infantry
Solomon S. Bishop enlisted as a private at Big Oak Flat, California, October 15, 1861, and was mustered into Company F, 3rd California Infantry, October 17. Private Bishop died of pneumonia at Benicia Barracks November 26, 1861, and was buried in the post cemetery (Orton, 571, 871; CMSR, NARA). His mother, Elizabeth (maiden name unknown), filed for a survivors pension December 6, 1864, and received application No. 74,802.
