Mary Alice Ammerman, 85, of Boston, formerly of McLeansboro, died at 2:15 p.m. Thursday, June 19, 2008, at Beth-Israel Deaconess Hospital in Boston.
She was born March 21, 1923, in McLeansboro, daughter of Dorse M. and Lula Mae (McLain) Phillips. She married Jack Ammerman on July 21, 1945, and he preceded her in death.
Mary had worked for many years at the Barber-Coleman Company in Rockford. She was of the Baptist faith.
Mary is survived by a son, Jack Ammerman and wife Nancy of West Roxbury, Mass.; one granddaughter, Abigail Tatom Ammerman of Washington, D.C.; and one sister, Dana Marie Boyd of Jackson, Mich.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; a daughter, Susan Ammerman; two brothers, Carroll M. Phillips and Lowell Emmerson Phillips; and two sisters, Ina Mildred Elliston and Ruth Alene Elimon.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at Ten Mile Baptist Church near McLeansboro with the Rev. John Smith officiating. Burial will be at Antioch Cemetery in Macedonia.
Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Gholson Funeral Home in McLeansboro.
