"JOSEPH DEBOT DIES SUDDENLY - Joseph Debot died of pneumonia at his home here at 2 o'clock Monday afternoon after an illness of only a few days. He was working at Christ Bentson's logging camp near Athelstane and was taken sick a few days ago. Thinking that his illness was only a bad cold from which he would soon recover, he did not notify his family that he was sick. On Sunday, however, his condition was worse instead of better and he was brought to his home in Wausaukee in the afternoon and a physician called to attend him. He was beyond medical aid when brought here and passed away the next afternoon. Deceased was a son of Town Treasurer and Mrs. Victor Debot of this place, and is survived by his wife and two young sons. He also leaves to mourn his loss four sisters - Mrs. Emil Everix of Wausaukee; Mrs. A. J. DeRoeck of Norway, Michigan; Mrs. John DeGroot of Wausaukee; Miss Agnes Debot who makes her home with her parents; and one brother, Edmund Debot of Wausau. Joseph was born in Antwerp, Belgium on June 7, 1876 and came to this country with his parents in 1897. The family settled at Mastodon, Michigan and about a year later came to Wausaukee where they have lived ever since. He was married to Miss Catherine Bourdeau of this place on May 5, 1901. The funeral was held at 9 o'clock Wednesday morning from St. Augustine's Catholic church, Rev. Fr. Reul officiating. Undertaker S. A. Mangold had charge of the remains. The pallbearers were: George A. Ullsperger, B. H. Bangert, Albert Jicha, Jake Edlebeck, A. Dufreisne and Amos Christ."
