Obituary on funeral home web site: Betty Jo Atkins-Kilburn passed away in Houston, TX on April 1, 2013 at the age of 68. She was born on August 13, 1944 in Amarillo, TX. Betty Jo is preceded in death by her parents, Floyd and Frances Elliott. She is survived by her husband of 17 years, Orville L. Kilburn; 2 sons, Alan Atkins and his wife Jennifer, Scott Hunter Atkins and his wife Aimee; 4 grandchildren, Ashley, Blake, Reagan, and Austin; 1 sister, Carolyn Matlock and her husband J.C.; as well as many other extended family members and friends. Betty Jo was a beautiful kind lady. She grew up in Houston, and graduated from Reagan High School. Betty Jo loved to shop and was an excellent cook. She adored her children, grandchildren, and her dogs Duke and Dutch, she will be deeply missed. The family will receive friends for visitation from 5:00 pm - 8:00 pm on Wednesday, April 3, 2013 at Grand View Funeral Home. Funeral services will take place on Thursday, April 4, 2013 at 10:00 am in the chapel of Grand View Funeral Home with interment to follow at 4:30 pm in Adams Cemetery in Carthage, TX. For those desiring to do so, contributions may be made in memory of Betty Jo Atkins-Kilburn to The University of Texas M. D. Anderson Cancer Center P.O. Box 4486 Houston, Texas 77210-4486.
