Henry Frank Baxter, 83, of Ackerman died July 9, 2004, at the Mississippi State Veterans Home in Kosciusko.
Mr. Baxter was born Dec. 6, 1920. He was the first child of Edward Turner Baxter and Rebecca Wylie Baxter. He was a retired logger and sawyer, and had been residing in the State Veterans Home.
Mr. Baxter was a veteran of World War II, having served in Italy, France and Africa, where at Angio Beachhead he was injured and was awarded the Purple Heart and Bronze Star.
Survivors include two sons, Roy Baxter and his wife, Linda, and Bobby Baxter and his wife, Cindy, of Ackerman; one daughter, Betty Carr and her husband, David, of Starkville; nine grandchildren, Lisa Prisock of Nashville, Tenn., Belinda Null of Phoenix, James Prisock of Sturgis, Chris, Benji, Justin and J.R. Baxter of Ackerman, Stewart Baxter of Flagstaff, Ariz., and Jonathan Baxter of Lucas Texas; 12 great-grandchildren; one sister, Addie Vance of Houston and one brother, Parnell Baxter of Sturgis.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Dorothy Sanders Baxter; and one son, Billy Charles Baxter.
Services were July 11 at Coleman Funeral Home in Ackerman with burial in Concord Cemetery. The Rev. James Burrell officiated.
