Bradley Oran Benzing
Bradley Oran Benzing, 40 of Yakima, beloved son, brother and uncle, went to be with his Lord March 9, 2009.
Born September 28, 1968 in Decorah, Iowa, Brad moved with his family to Montana in 1973. The family worked and lived on many ranches in North Central Montana and settled in the Valier area in 1981. Brad graduated from Valier High School in 1987 and served at a Christian camp in Alaska the following two summers. In 1989 he attended, and graduated from Ecola Bible College and also worked at the convention center there. He came home to work on the ranch with his dad for a year following his graduation and then moved back to the Yakima, Washington area in 1992 where he had resided ever since. Brad received his Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education from Yakima Community College in 1996 and became a teacher. He was teaching 5th grade at Naches Valley Middle School at the time of his death.
Brad's passions included working with youth groups and helping kids develop their faith in God. Brad had a personal relationship with Jesus Christ and was never afraid to share his faith and had a real heart for people, youth especially. Brad was a true evangelist; you never had to wonder where his heart was because he would tell you. He loved teaching and had recently become a junior high track coach. Another of Brad's passions was goats, animals in general. He raised and showed goats and had a stock farm of various and sundry types of farm animals including, sheep, pigs, calves and chickens. Brad worked at the Toppenish Sale Barn every Saturday, which he enjoyed very much. Brad's seven nieces and nephews loved to visit Uncle Brad's Farm and his two nephews had determined that they were going to grow up to be just like their Uncle Brad; teaching, raising goats and never getting married.
Brad is survived by his parents, Oran & Sylvia Benzing of Square Butte, MT; brothers Brian (Suzy) Benzing of Winifred, MT and Craig (Shelley) Benzing of Geyser, MT and one sister, Corrie (Tim) Seaman also of Square Butte, MT; nieces Rebeka, Kayla, Kaydance, Bailey & Shyla Benzing and nephews Justin Benzing & Ryan Seaman and grandfather Olaf Remmen of Ossian, Iowa along with many aunts, uncles and cousins. He was preceded in death by a brother Monte Craig Benzing and his grandparents Orma & Victor Benzing and grandmother Marie Remmen.
Memorial service will be held at 3:30 p.m. Monday, March 16th at the Westside Baptist Church.
In lieu of flowers donations maybe made in Brad's name to the Union Gospel Mission Youth Center, 1300 N.1st St., Yakima, WA 98901, or to the charity of choice.
