NaDene Bley - Celebrating 89 years of life
September 7, 1925 - January 6, 2015
Parents: LeRoy and Grace Brabham
Sisters: Virginia and Ardath
Married Alvin Bley: December 24, 1947
Three children: Vonna, Ronald, and Larry
6 grandchildren
14 great grandchildren

NaDene was born 5 miles north of Wauneta. Her mother Grace had scarlet fever so a lot of her youth was spent with her Aunt Edna helping her cook for the harvest crew. Her job was to bring in more corncobs. NaDene would complain that the day's heat of 100 degrees was hot enough. Why did they need more heat for cooking?

NaDene was married at her parents' home and did not have any wedding pictures because the pictures were not developed.

She taught school during the 1949 blizzards. The school year was to have 9 months of school instead of the normal 8 months, but because so much school was missed the board decided that 8 months were enough.

A minister was hired to help with her wheat harvest. NaDene was telling him how to do his job. He quit and said, "You do not need a truck driver. You need a babysitter." When NaDene's children grew old enough, they became her harvest crew.

She loved her cattle, teaching Bible school, attending church, gardening, canning produce, and raising wild turkeys.

NaDene loved to be outdoors working!
