Caroline R. "Grandma" Granillo, 93, of Laguna, passed away on Sept. 23, 2004, at a Farmington hospital after a brief illness. She was born in the New Mexico Territories on Oct. 21, 1910, to Mr. Granillo and Mary Chavez Granillo.

Mrs. Granillo was a lifelong resident of the area and an active member of the Laguna-Acoma Baptist Indian Mission. She was a committed Christian since the age of 20 and had been a missionary on a mission team. In addition, she helped others while translating the Bible from English to Keresan. She was a faithful participant in the health wisdom program in Laguna.

She is survived by one daughter Gladys Suina-Shije and husband Marcus of Seama; four grandchildren Nadine Luarkie of Paraje, Shannon Luarkie of Paraje, Andrew Luarkie of Paraje and Nolan Suina Sr. of Paraje; 10 great-grandchildren Francine Luarkie, Raymond Luarkie, Kyola Jaramillo, Merleen Curley, Reana Jaramillo, Kyle Jaramillo, Michael Luarkie, Stephanie Jaramillo, Wesley Luarkie and Nolan Suina Jr.; three great-great-grandchildren Kenzie Alonzo, Mervine Curley and Tonantzine "CC" Candelaria and numerous nephews, nieces and church family.

Visitation will be at 5 p.m. today at Mrs. Granillo's residence in Laguna. A traditional "wake service" will follow at 7 p.m., also at Mrs. Granillo's residence. Funeral services will take place at 10 a.m., Saturday, Sept. 25, at the Laguna-Acoma Baptist Indian Mission with Pastor Richard Dolores officiating. Burial will follow at Laguna-Acoma Baptist Indian Mission Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Nolan Suina Sr., Raymond Luarkie, Marcus Shije Jr. and Kyle Jaramillo.

Grants Mortuary has been entrusted with arrangements.
