Gerald G. Buesgens, age 87 of rural Belle Plaine, died at his home on Thursday morning, February 20, 2014. Mass of Christian Burial will be on Tuesday, 10:30 a.m, February 25, 2014 at Our Lady of the Prairie Catholic Church in Belle Plaine, MN. Visitation will be at the Kolden Funeral Home in Belle Plaine on Monday, February 24 from 4-8 p.m. Family prayer service 3:45 p.m. on Monday at the funeral home and Veteran's Service at the funeral home on Monday 7:30 p.m. Visitation will continue the morning of the Mass at the church from 9:30 a.m. ~ 10:30 a.m. Interment with Military Honors at Sacred Heart Cemetery in Belle Plaine, MN.

Gerald was born on September 9, 1926 in Sibley County to William and Crescentia (Schug) Buesgens. He attended rural country schools north of Belle Plaine. He served in the United States Army during World War II. After returning home he married Helen Savage on November 5, 1946 at Sacred Heart Church in Belle Plaine. The couple lived in Hopkins for a short time after they were married where Gerald worked for Minneapolis Moline Tractor Manufacturing. They moved to Jordan, MN where he hauled milk and various other jobs. Later they moved to the farm near Belle Plaine. Gerald spent most of his working career, 26 years, at the Anchor Glass Company near Shakopee, MN, retiring in 1992. Following his retirement, Gerald stayed busy farming & maintaining equipment. He enjoyed working on his antique tractors and reading,
