Francisco H. “Vico” Nieto, 78, of Chamberino, NM died Wed. Sept. 29, 2004. He was born June 4, 1926 in La Regina, Mexico to Daniel and Benigna Hernandez Nieto. Vico was a retired foreman with Old El Paso Canning Co. He was also an outdoors person who loved farming and ranching. He was a member of San Luis Rey Catholic Church and was very well known in the community. Mr. Nieto will be deeply missed by all his family and many friends who knew and loved him.
He is survived by his wife of 43 years Guadalupe Nieto of the family home; sons Luis and Manuel Nieto of Chamberino, NM; daughters Bertha Ochoa and husband Ray of Albuquerque, NM, Nancy Segura of Chamberino, NM and Teresa Najera and husband Carlos of La Mesa, NM; brothers Arnulfo Nieto, Manuel Nieto and wife Avilia and Aguilas Nieto and wife Maria all of La Regina, MX; sisters Ernestina Nieto of El Paso, TX, Blanca Amaya of Delano, CA and Hermelinda Perez and husband Joe of Earlimart, CA; grandchildren Chris, Julian, Ramon, Karina and Aidee; great-grandchildren Desirae, Ashlea, Karissa and Chris and also by many nieces, nephews and cousins. Vico was preceded in death by his parents and a sister Ofelia Nieto.
A visitation will be held from 5 to 7 PM Friday, Oct. 1, 2004 at San Luis Rey Catholic Church where a prayer vigil will follow at 7:00 PM. The funeral mass is at 10:00 AM Saturday, Oct. 2, 2004 also at San Luis Rey with Fr. Robert Villegas officiating. Rite of Committal will be at the Chamberino Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Luis Nieto, Ruben Quiroga, Chris and Julian Ochoa, Carlos Najera and Robert Castaneda.
