Our beloved husband, father, grandfather and uncle, Rodolfo Marquez, 81, of Las Cruces, left his dwelling place on earth and entered eternal life to be with his heavenly Father, Wednesday, Feb. 25, 2009, at MountainView Regional Medical Center surrounded by his loving family.
He was born May 7, 1927, in La Mesa to Macario and Susana Gomez Marquez. Mr. Marquez served his country honorably in the U.S. Army and Navy during the World War II and the Korean War. He was decorated with the Victory Medal and three Purple Hearts. Mr. Marquez was a member of VFW Post 3242, Disabled American Veterans, the Purple Heart Association and the Trench Rats. He was a communicant at Our Lady of Health Catholic Church.
Survivors include his loving wife, Isabel D. Marquez, of the family home; a daughter, Dolores Marquez, and husband, Adam; four sons, Jose A. Marquez, and wife, Patricia, of Stockton, Calif.; Jaime Marquez; Patrick Marquez, and wife, Soledad, of Chamberino; and Jerry Marquez, and fianc�e, Patricia Garcia, of San Miguel. Other survivors include numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; two sons, Rodolfo Marquez, Jr. and Ricardo Marquez; and a grandson, Eugene Marquez.
Visitation for Mr. Marquez will begin at 5 p.m. today, Sunday, March 1, 2009, in Baca's Chapel of Prayer, 300 E. Boutz Road, where the prayer vigil is scheduled for 6 p.m. Family and friends will join together to celebrate the funeral Mass at 10 a.m. Monday, March 2, 2009, in Our Lady of Health Catholic Church, 1195 N. Mesquite St., with Fathers of Augustinian Recollects officiating. The Rite of Committal and interment will follow in the Chamberino Cemetery with military honors accorded by a Fort Bliss honor guard and the Marine Corps League - El Perro Diablo Detachment.
Serving as casket bearers will be Jerry Marquez, Jr., Jerry Abbs, Max Madrid, Hector Sarellano Jr., Pat Marquez and Paul Marquez. Honorary bearer will be Rany Samples.
The Marquez family has entrusted their loved one to the care of Baca's Funeral Chapels to direct funeral services.
