EUGENE "GENO" MARQUEZ, 24, of Chamberino entered eternal life Monday, March 26, 2007 at Memorial Medical Center. He was born December 15, 1982 in Bremerhaven, Germany to Patrick Marquez and Angelique C. Castillo. "Geno" as he was fondly known to his family and friends was a construction laborer. In his past time, he enjoyed composing music and writing poetry and was a member of the Catholic Church.
Survivors include two sons, Kaleb Marquez and Gabriel Eugene Marquez both of Las Cruces; two daughters, Destiny and Deborah Marquez both of Anthony, New Mexico; his father, Patrick Marquez and wife Soledad of Chamberino and his mother, Angelique C. Castillo of Denver, Colorado; one sister, Coleen Rey Marquez of Denver, Colorado; four brothers, Juan Guevara of Denver, Colorado, Diego R. Marquez, Hector and Omar Sarellano of Chamberino. Other survivors include his paternal grandparents; a niece and a nephew; numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and a host of friends. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents.
Visitation for Geno will begin at 6 PM Thursday, March 29, 2007 in Baca's Chapel of Prayer, 300 E. Boutz Road, where the Prayer Vigil is scheduled to begin at 7 PM. Family and friends will join together to celebrate the Funeral Liturgy at 10 AM, Friday, March 30, 2007 in Our Lady of Health Catholic Church, 1178 N. Mesquite Street with Reverend Martin Cordero, Celebrant. The Rite of Committal and Interment will follow in Chamberino Cemetery where he will be laid to rest.
Serving as casket bearers will be Ricky Peņa, Jr., Jerry Marquez, Jr., Patrick James Marquez, Elaine Diaz, Juan F. Guevara and Danny Barela. Honorary bearers will be Jerry Abbs, Hector Gonzales and Paul Joseph Marquez.
Service arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Baca's Funeral Chapels, 300 E. Boutz Road, Las Cruces. 527-2222.
