Capt. Eleazer Fairbanks, Jr., s. of Eleazer Fairbanks and Martha Lovett, b. of record Dec. 29, 1690 at Sherborn, Mass. where he d. of record Sept. 19, 1741, Æ 51 (g.s.)

On Dec. 25, 1712 of record at Sherborn, Eleazer m. Martha Bullard, dau. of Samuel Bullard and Deborah Atherton, b. of record Feb. 11, 1694/95 at Sherborn. She as the widow Fairbanks m. 2) Dec. 22, 1743 as his 2nd wife at Sherborn, John Phipps, by whom there were no children. John Phipps d. at Sherborn Oct. 16, 1746 (g.s.) and Martha d. at Sherborn June 22, 1756, but no gravestone is known.

Eleazer and wife Martha had 11 children of record at Sherborn, six of whom knowingly died in infancy or as an unmarried adult.

• i. Rev. Eleazer 3rd, b. July 23, 1716; was a Congregational pastor at Killingly, Plainfield and later Griswold, Conn.; married Prudence Crary, not Cary as stated by the Fairbanks Genealogy, dau. of John Crary and Prudence White of Plainfield, Conn. Purportedly d. in Monson, Mass.

• ii. Joseph, b. Sept. 17, 1718; purportedly d. in 1790 in Halifax, Nova Scotia, married but without children.

• iii. Deborah, b. Nov. 12, 1719, d. at Sherborn Sept. 12, 1775, Æ 56 (g.s.); m. June 28, 1739 at Sherborn as his 1st wife, Joseph Twitchell, s. of Joseph Twitchell and Elizabeth Holbrook, b. at Sherborn Feb. 13, 1718/19. He d. Mar. 12, 1792 at Sherborn, Æ 74 (g.s.) Deborah was the mother of 14 children, 12 who married.

• iv. Moses, b. Aug. 14, 1721; d. in infancy Sept. 2, 1721. [*1]

• v. Sarah, b. Sep 25, 1722; d. in infancy Oct. 6, 1723.

• vi. Martha, b. Aug 2, 1724, d. Feb. 13, 1815 at Sullivan, NH; m. Sept. 28, 1741 at Watertown, Mass., Benjamin Mason, s. of Joseph Mason and Mary Monk (q.v.), b. July 14, 1717 at Watertown, Mass. He d. July 5, 1801 at Dublin, NH. Nine children of the family.

• vii. Abel, b. Nov. 28, 1726; d. an infant Mar. 17, 1730/31.

• viii. Abigail, b. Aug. 18, 1728; d. in infancy Dec. 3, 1728.

• ix. David, b. Feb, 2, 1730/31; d. in infancy Mar. 22, 1730/31.

• x. Abigail, b. May 5, 1732; d. unm. at Sherborn Oct. 20, 1751, Æ 20 (g.s.)

• xi. Ebenezer, b. June 1, 1734, d. June 6, 1812 and was buried at Brimfield, MA; m. July 2, 1761 of record at Sherborn, Elizabeth Death, dau. of Edward Death and Rachel Leland, b. Sept. 24, 1743 of record at Sherborn. She d. June 15, 1818 and was buried at Brimfield, MA. Eight children of the family.

[*1] The Sherborn VRs clearly state Moses, s. of Eleazer and Martha, d. Sept. 2, 1721. As Eleazer Fairbanks, Jr. had no brother Moses, this can only refer to the son of Eleazer, Jr. and his wife Martha Bullard. The Fairbanks Genealogy erroneously claims this son was in the Colonial Wars from Apr. 2, 1759 to Sept. 29, 1760.
