She was born July 8, 1920, in Mound City, the daughter of James and Hazel Shuetz Shaw.
She married "Jack" Akines, and they later divorced.
She graduated from Skidmore High School and Northwest Missouri State University. She taught music in Holt County for six years. She was a longtime resident of St. Joseph and worked at Woodbury Chemical for over seven years until she retired.
She is survived by many friends.
She has been cremated under the direction of Heaton-Bowman-Smith & Sidenfaden Chapel, St. Joseph, Mo.
Graveside services and inurnment were held on July 2, in the Maitland Cemetery, Maitland, Mo.
