Don Andrew Bay was born May 24, 1950, in Laramie, Wyo., the first of five children born to Don “Bill” Burrell Bay and Lola LaVaughn (Coller) Bay. He died Sept. 17, 2008, at Silver Ridge Village nursing home, Bullhead City, Ariz., due to the advanced stages of dementia.

At birth a cowboy spirit invaded his soul. He rode in his first rodeo at age 13 and many thereafter. He also worked on many ranches. He was a self taught horse breaker.

He enjoyed doing rope tricks, roping calves and practicing on his unwilling younger brother and sisters.

He also enjoyed cars, motorcycles, books and was a lifelong learner.

He was drafted into the U.S. Army at age 19. After his discharge from the Army, he married Rebekah Harding Flower in Kingman, Ariz. She brought a young son Kaen Aaron to this union, followed by two daughters.

After their divorce, he and his three children lived in Missouri.

He was diagnosed with a cancerous brain tumor at the age of 36. It was at this time in his life that he accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior. He took his children to live in the Louisburg/Urbana area to be near family.

In his later years, he lived in Bullhead City, Ariz., where he was cared for by his mother and sister, Debbie. He especially enjoyed his sister’s grandchildren: Greyson, Baylee and Brayden. He moved into the care facility four years ago.

He was preceded in death by his father; and two nephews: Michael Lee Kilburn and Mark Dewayne Kilburn.

Survivors include his mother; his three children: Kaen and wife, Cindy Bay, Jessie Bay and fiance, Jim Mason, and Kami and husband, Scott Miller; his seven grandchildren: Shane Aaron and Derrick Allen Bay, Christian Andrew Bay Mason and Brianna Kendall Mason, and Shaylie Elaine, Hayden Scott and Delaney Faith Miller; his sisters: Bonnie and husband, Mike Kilburn, Denise Slusher and Debbie Moore; one brother, Doug and wife, Trudi Bay; 13 nieces and nephews; and a large extended family that will miss him.
