Ellen and her husband Horace lived in Greenville, SC in 1920 (according to the Federal Census). He worked as a porter and she worked as a launderer. They were a young black couple aged 23 and 25 respectively. Horace was born 3/12/1895 in SC and in 1917 worked for the railroad, he and Ellen were not married yet and lists his nationality as African on the WWI Draft Registration card.
