Was born in Edgefield SC. In 1917 he lived at 120 Shumate St. Greenville, SC. He was married. He worked as a Butler to James Morgan. This is listed on the WWI draft registration.
According to the federal census in 1920 they still lived at 120 Schumate. He was married to a woman named Marie that was 14 years his senior and they had a daughter who was 1 year old named Martin??. He worked as a laborer for a Government Company. According to the 1930 census he was a border and widowed. His wife would have been between the age of 21 and 31 when she died. His daughter was not living with him in 1930 and it is unknown what her whereabouts were.
