Mrs. W.R. Brown
Jane Elizabeth Sisson was born the thirtieth day of June, 1836 in Fraquier County, Virginia. She was the daughter of John and Mary (Strother) Sisson and one of a family of twelve children. She was the last member of the family to pass away. At the age of two years she moved with her parents, to Pike County, Missouri, where she spent the remainder of her life. She professed religion at the age of twelve years and united with the Cumberland Presbyterian Church of which she remained a faithful member until her death.
On December twenty-third, 1855 she was united in marriage to William Renny Brown, who passed away August twenty-third, 1892. To this union twelve children were born namely: Mollie L., deceased; B. Joe; Margaret E.; Ida B., deceased; T. Frank; Eugene E.; James K.; John L., deceased; Ona R.; Maude M., who died in infancy; Bertie B., deceased; R. Everett.
On April twenty-third, 1930 she passed away at the old homestead where the greater part of her life was spent. She was 93 years, 9 months, 24 days, leaving to mourn her departure 7 children, 28 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren. She has been carefully and faithfully cared for her by her daughter Ona during her affliction for about twenty-five years.
She united with the Mt. Air church shortly after its organization and was a charter member of the Missionary Society and being, at the time of her death next to the oldest member. She was a good, faithful, and devoted mother.
