Obituary

Cloyd A. Apple, 76, well known Richfield farmer, died Sunday at 10:35 P.M. in the Evangelical Hospital , Lewisburg. He was admitted to the hospital Thursday afternoon after suffering a heart attack. He suffered a second attack Sunday morning.
Mr. Apple was born at Mt. Pleasant Mills R.D. July 17, 1894 the son of the late William and Mary Winey Apple. He farmed in the Richfield area all of his life. He was still residing on his farm but retired from farming several years ago. since then his sons have been farming the farm. He was a very active member of the Richfield Mennonite church and served in various offices of that church for many years. He served a number of terms as school director of West Perry Township, Snyder county.
Mr. Apple was married to Stella M. Derr September 30, 1916. She preceded him in death in March 19, 1952.
He is survived by seven daughters, Mrs. Nevin (Mary) Hoffman and Mrs. Merle (Helen) Hoffman McAlisterville R.D.; Mrs. Earl (Naomi) Graybill, Mrs. Gerald (Norma) Sheaffer, and Mrs. Wilbur (Janet) Brubaker all of Richfield; Mrs. Ivan (Olive) Lauver of Mt. Pleasant Mills, Mrs. Clayton (Glendora) Lauver Mifflintown R.D.; four sons Elmer and Herbert Apple of Mt. Pleasant Mills and Albert and Reno Apple of Richfield; 31 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Dennis (Ida)Hoffman Richfield and Mrs. Jennie Hackenberg, Middleburg R.D.; a Brother, George Apple, of Richfield.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday at 2 P.M. from Richfield Mennonite Church. His pastor, A.H. Fultz, will officiate. Interment will be in the Richfield Cemetery. Viewing will be held Wednesday evening from Garman's Funeral Home, Mt. Pleasant Mills. The body will also lie in state in the church Thursday from 12:30 P.M. until the hour of service. In Lieu of flowers the family requests that a memorial gift may be designated for mission projects of the church.
