Marjorie Knowlton Craine, 100, of Venice, formerly of Westmoreland, N.Y., died Oct. 24, 2010.
Survivors include her daughter, Muriel Kehoe of St. Petersburg; a son, Thomas Craine of Denver; four grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
A graduate of the Crane School of Music at S.U.N.Y. Potsdam, music was a lifelong love she shared with everyone -- playing for the silent movies at age 14 through a teaching career in Westmoreland, to being named Florida's 2007 volunteer of the year by the Florida Healthcare Activity Coordinators Association at the age of 97.
Her zest for life and infectious optimism were on full display at her recent 100th birthday party, where she entertained family and guests on the piano and played Happy Birthday for herself!
Marjorie's ashes will be interred in the cemetery at Sandy Creek, N.Y., next to her beloved husband. Memorial contributions may be made to Village on the Isle Foundation, 920 S. Tamiami Trail, Venice, FL 34285, where Marjorie was lovingly cared for during the last years of her life. Published in Herald Tribune from October 31 to November 1, 2010
