Dr. Donald Bruce Aspley, 77, of Blountville, went to be with the Lord Monday at Indian Path Medical Center in Kingsport following a lengthy illness.

Dr. Aspley was born in Glasgow, Ky., and graduated from the University of Louisville School of Medicine in 1961.

He retired as a physician from Eastman Chemical Company in 1996 after 28 years of service and continued practicing medicine at Greeneville Urgent Care from 2002 until he retired due to health reasons in 2011.

He was much loved by his family and his patients. He touched the lives of all who knew him.

His family attends Homeland Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife of 20 years and the love of his life: Brenda Aspley; his son: Bruce Aspley and wife, Kim, of Georgia; his son: James Aspley and wife, Kim, of North Carolina; his daughter: Rebecca Youngblood and husband, Chris, of Georgia; his daughter: Jenny Beck of Kingsport; a brother: Steve Nunn, and a sister: Jennie Penn, both of Kentucky; and a special brother-in-law and sister-in-law: Gerald and Diana Jones of Fall Branch.

He is also survived by nine grandchildren: Angela Mosier, Tauna, Elizabeth and Alex Aspley, Jay and Joey Aspley, Keegan and Konnor Beck, and Remington Youngblood.

He was preceded in death by his parents: Joe and Ruth Aspley; his mother: Beulah Nunn; a brother: Dr. Joe Aspley Jr.; and a sister: Susan Krieger.

The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Thursday at Jeffers Funeral & Cremation Service, Afton Chapel.

A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday in GraceLand Memorial Gardens. Pastor J.W. Depew will officiate.

Pallbearers will be Mark and John Ketron, Keegan and Conner Beck, Richard Moore, and Grady Vaughn.
