Charles Arnold, 75, life resident of Rock County, died unexpectedly at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, April 16, while at work in a field on his farm on Edgerton Route 2. He had partaken of the lunch Mrs. Arnold had brought and was oiling a machine when he asked her to oil a part he could not reach, and collapsed in her arms.
Charles, son of John and Annie McKinney Arnold, was born Aug. 25, 1883, in Porter Township and had farmed most of his life. On Oct. 2, 1906, he was united in marriage with Clara Richardson in the Richardson farm home now occupied by the Robert Arnolds. They observed their golden wedding anniversary in 1956.
He was a member of the Milton Junction Methodist Church, a seventh degree member of Milton Grange and had been awarded a 25-year pin by the Pure Milk Assn.
Surviving are his wife; three sons, Earle, Ralph and Robert, all of Milton Junction; a daughter, Mrs. Peter Ganser, Fort Atkinson; 11 grandchildren; two brothers, David of Milton, and Harry, Edgerton Route 2. A son Lester, and a brother George preceded him in death.
Services were held at 2 p.m. Sunday in Milton Junction Methodist church, the Rev. Cecil B. Dawson officiating. Kenneth A. Babcock gave the song service and Kenneth Bird was organist. Pallbearers were nephews - Jess, Floyd, Charlie, Duane and Allison Arnold and Hubert Richardson. Burial was in Milton Junction Cemetery.
