James Oliver Byron, Gardners R.D. died suddenly Monday afternoon at 4 o'clock at his home in South Middleton Township, Cumberland County, from the effects of a stroke.
He had complained of indigestion during the day, but had been cutting corn during the afternoon and had just returned to the house to speak with some friends when he was stricken.
He is survived by his widow, Minnie (Wolf) Byron; two brothers, Edward E. Byron, also of South Middleton Township and William F. Byron, Abbottstown, and two sisters, Mrs. Kate Finkey and Mrs. Mary Wolf, both of Gardners, R.D. and a number of nieces and nephews.
He was a life-long resident of the community, having been born and reared in this section. He celebrated his sixty-sixth birthday anniversary on July 17. He attended Grace Evangelical church at Uriah.
Funeral services were held from the late home Thursday afternoon at 1 o'clock with further services at Chestnut Grove Lutheran church, with the Rev. H. LeRoy Brininger officiating. Interment in the adjoining cemetery.
