Anson A. Black is my 2nd great-grandfather. I got his name from my father's family notes and research. The earliest record I have is of Anson and wife Harriet being accepted as members of The Pleasant Grove Baptist Church on Sat. 4 Jun 1843 "...received by experience Anson Black and Harriet Black..." in Cocke Co., Tennessee. This was found in a search of trigenweb.org using the name of the church.
Anson and Harriet have two children in TN a third in Georgia before landing in Bradley County, Arkansas in 1850, where they have six more children by 1860. They appear in the census records for Bradley County of which portions later become Dorsey and Cleveland Counties respectively from 1850-1880. They live in essentially the same location from about 1849 until death. Anson reported his birth location as North Carolina, his father as same, and his mother as South Carolina on census records. His wife's name was Harriet Frances Jenkins.
