D. Steve Brummett was born in Hulbert, Oklahoma on July 28, 1948, the son of Buster Brummett and Ida (Sells) Brummett. A carpenter by trade, Steve took great pride in his work. He enjoyed shooting pool during his time off. An avid horseman, Steve was a proud member of the American Quarter Horse Association and the American Paint Horse Association. Steve Brummett passed away on Tuesday, September 22, 2009, at the age of 61. He was preceded in death by his parents; by a daughter, Stephanie Watson; by his sister, Shirley Ann Brummett; and by two brothers, Bill Brummett and Bob Worley.
Steve is survived by his daughter, Velva Lynn Eubanks and her husband Don, of Tahlequah; his sisters, Doris White and husband Leon of Hulbert, OK, Ruby Baldridge, of Hulbert, Lois Rutherford, also of Hulbert, and Elaine Griffith and husband Lenard, of Kansas, OK; his best friend, Buddy Foster, of Hulbert; his grandson, Ra Watson, of Porter, OK; his five granddaughters, Sara Watson, of Porter, Ashley Cartwright and Jessica Cartwright, of Tahlequah, Lindsey Eubanks and Shelby Eubanks, of Tahlequah; his three aunts, Geneva Foster of Tahlequah, Lula Holland of Hubert, and Faye Dorris and husband Ralph of Tulsa; as well as ten nephews, nine nieces, and many other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM on Friday, September 25, 2009 at the Hart Funeral Home Chapel in Tahlequah, with Brother Bobby Botts officiating. Interment will follow services at Ray Mission Cemetery in Sequoyah State Park near Hulbert, OK. Services have been entrusted to the care of the Hart Funeral Home of Tahlequah. Serving as pallbearers are Buster Brave, Sammy Brave, Charlie Baldridge, Mitchel Fritts, Lucas White and James White. Buddy Foster and J.W. Caughman will serve as honorary pallbearers.
