|Death: ||Apr., 1974|
In April 1974, the partially burned and bludgeoned bodies of two men, Herman Dodge Benally, 34, of Kirtland, and John Earl Harvey, 39, of Fruitland, were found near Farmington. One week later another man, David Ignacio, 52, was also found dead in the hills near Chokecherry Canyon.
Three Farmington high school students were charged with the murders, which were alleged to be an act of "Indian Rolling," the practice of abusing Navajo street inebriates. The abuse occurred mostly at the hands of white teenagers, according to a Daily Times article entitled, "The Broken Circle" published in April of 2004.
