Marion Green Chaney at 79 years of age of Sanders Island View, Kingston Oklahoma on Lake Texoma formerly of Oklahoma City passed away June 12, 2008 at Texoma Medical Center in Denison, Texas of Congestive Heart and Kidney Failure.

Marion was born on December 14th , 1928 in Centrahoma, Oklahoma to James and Susie Chaney. He graduated from Centrahoma High School in 1948, following his graduation he served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He was discharged in February 1953. Marion married Wanda Alma Key of Centrahoma on July 5, 1953. There after, he entered East Central University, where he received his bachelor of Science in Physical Education. His Master's degree in Elementary Education from the University of Oklahoma and Certificate of Administration from Central State University. He retired from the Oklahoma City Board of Education with 37 years of teaching. Marion was the most devoted of teachers. He often found ways to provide for the personal need of his students, sometimes simply giving a word of encouragement when it was most needed. He was also recognized by his students as a teacher to be respected and obeyed.

He enjoyed working with and helping the kids at the Boys Club of Oklahoma City. He was a member of the Kiwanis serving as a club officer. He was one of the original officers of the Southside Sooner's Association, in Oklahoma City and upon retirement and moving to the lake, Marion was a founding Board Member of Sanders Island View Homeowners Association.

Marion was a loving husband of 55 years and a devoted father to his wife Wanda and two sons Marion Steve and Robert Eugene Chaney. Because of his family values, he made career choices that allowed him to spend more time with his family instead of escalating his career. That time is cherished by his sons and family. He was a people person and he enjoyed helping his neighbors and just visiting people in our community. He also loved fishing and gardening. But most of all he loved doing things with his grand-children.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Jimmy. He is survived by his wife, Wanda; children, Steve and wife Joy of Whitesboro, Texas, Robert and wife Tiffanie of Madill, Oklahoma; grand-children Brice and Brent Chaney of Whitesboro, Texas; Makayla and Kirsten Chaney of Madill, Oklahoma, and a brother Junior and wife Charlene of Oklahoma City. Also may nieces, nephews and cousins. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Madill, Oklahoma.

Tue. June 17, 2008 , 8:00 am to 9:00 pm Family Hour will be from 7 to 8. at Watts Funeral Home, Madill, Oklahoma
